London Museums
London museums have been accumulating artifacts, paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, and knowledge, from not only the British Isles, but Europe, the Mediterranean, India, China, Africa, and elsewhere, for many generations. With 2,000 years of local history, and centuries as a major maritime power, the nation's students of human culture have had ample opportunity to study the products of many civilizations. The result is a group of museums and galleries that is arguably the finest the world has ever seen. The British Museum has collections of artifacts from every age and every continent and region of the world. The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square houses a truly awesome collection of European paintings. The Victoria and Albert Museum is oriented towards art and design, both historical and contemporary. Other museums and galleries include the Natural History Museum, the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Academy of Arts, and the Sherlock Holmes Museum. Of course, there are numerous other museums and galleries in the London area awaiting exploration. If you are traveling to Great Britain, be sure to visit several of these world renowned London museums.London Museums
