London Hotels, Vacation Packages, Tours and more!
This site is designed to help simplify your visit to London. In addition to the overview here, we've included extensive information concerning hotels as well as information about vacation packages, tours, attractions, restaurants, museums, and, yes, the weather. On many of these pages we will give you additional neighborhood related information about the greater metropolitan area of London as appropriate.
London has been over 2,000 years in the making and for most of that time has been the center of government, finance, retail, royalty, history, theatre, art, and science in England. London is believed to have been established by the Romans (who called it Londinium) around 43 AD. As befits a city with such a long history, the current metropolitan area of over 12 million souls is an extremely complex and diverse place. Communities can change their character literally from street to street and visitors from more recently designed cities might find the lack of a rectangular street grid unnerving. Due to the foregoing, it's helpful to divide the city into manageable pieces. London is divided into 33 Boroughs. We won't name them all since for most visitors the two most important Boroughs are The City and Westminster, considered the heart of the West End. The City, the original Londinium, is the financial centre of Great Britain. The West End which includes Westminster, Mayfair, Notting Hill, Soho, Holland Park, and Convent Garden, is where the majority of the tourist attractions are to be found. Visitors will want to experience the grandeur of Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, the many museums like the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben. The West End is history, government, royalty, shopping.
